In many countries it is custom to greet a friend/ colleague/new acquaintance by kisses on the cheeks. Yet every county with it's number of kisses. In Switzerland it is custom to greet with three kisses, one kiss on right cheek, one kiss on left cheek and one more on right again. In France for example two kisses are enough, one right one left. Every Swiss person has experienced it, this embarrassing moment holding the head in the air, aiming for the third kiss, while the French interlocutor has long moved back standing.
